The model
and the screen
A physical scale model, a 3D rendering and a virtual tour answer different questions. Here they are side by side, for whoever decides what the sales suite needs. Every model we build comes with five renderings, free.
Three ways
to show a building
| Question | Physical scale model | 3D rendering | Virtual tour |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it shows | The whole building and its site at once: massing, streets, neighbours, orientation, every side. | One view of the building, framed by the designer. | The rooms of one unit, one room at a time. |
| Who chooses the view | Whoever stands at the table. They walk around it, bend down, point. | The designer, before anyone sees it. | Whoever holds the mouse or wears the headset. |
| Proportion | One true scale, built from the drawings. A 20-metre facade at 1:100 is 20 cm on the table. | Set by the lens and the camera height chosen for the picture. | Set by the camera height and the field of view. |
| What is chosen for it | Nothing on the table can be retouched. The building on the plinth is the building in the drawings. | Light, sky, season, planting and people, picked for the picture. | As faithful as the 3D file behind it. |
| Who looks together | A couple, their children and the agent around one table, in one conversation. | Anyone, anywhere, on a screen or a page. | Usually one person per screen or headset. |
| Where it works | The sales suite, the launch, the boardroom, the exhibition. A travel model goes abroad in its crate. | The website, the brochure, the hoarding, advertising. | The website and the sales suite, for buyers who cannot visit. |
| How long it lasts | The whole sales period, and after it in the lobby or the office. ABS, acrylic and wood keep their edges and colour for decades. | The campaign. A changed design needs a new image. | As long as the hosting, the software and the hardware. |
| What it says | That someone spent weeks on this one building, by hand, before a single unit was sold. | A professional image, one of the many a buyer sees. | A professional presentation of the rooms. |
| What comes with it | Five renderings, free, made from photographs of the finished model. | The image itself. | The tour itself. |
| Time to make | One week to prepare the drawings, four weeks of building, about a week by courier. When to order | Usually quicker than a model. | Depends on how many units and rooms it covers. |
Every model ordered from Atelier AMOD includes five free renderings, made from photographs of the finished model. One commission serves the sales suite and the brochure.
When images
cost nothing
Renderings and images have become cheap. A convincing view of a building can now be made in an afternoon, and every buyer has seen hundreds of them. They no longer set a project apart.
A model cannot be made that way. It is cut, assembled and painted by hand over weeks, from the drawings of one building, for one project. That is what a buyer reads in it before a word is said: a developer who invested in the project, and people who took the time to get it right.
That is why a model is a luxury asset, in the way a tailored suit is. Its value is in the hours and the care you can see, and it stays in the room for as long as the sales run.
Dedication
Weeks of work for one building, before a single unit is sold. Buyers see the commitment.
Craftsmanship
Cut by laser and CNC, assembled by hand, painted with airbrush. At 1:100 a door is 1 × 2 cm and the bricks are modelled.
A luxury asset
A centrepiece made once, for this building only. In ABS, acrylic and wood that keep their edges and colour for decades.
Five renderings, free
With every model ordered, five renderings made from photographs of the finished model. The images come from the object. See them

Reach
An image travels. It fills the website, the brochure and the advertisement before a single buyer has visited.
Inside one unit
A room-by-room walk through a home that does not exist yet, for the buyer who wants to see the kitchen.
The whole, in the room
Where the building stands, what it faces, where the sun falls, which unit is which. Seen by everyone at the table, at the same moment.
The screen for the rooms,
the model for the place
A sales suite with a tour and no model shows the rooms, but not the place. Buyers ask where the building stands, what it faces, and where their unit sits in the block. Those are questions a table answers in a glance.
The model is also the one piece of the campaign that is in the room. It is there when the doors open, it is there at the launch, and it is there when the last unit is sold.
The five free renderings that come with every AMOD model are made from photographs of the finished model, in the styles shown on the renderings page.

Asked before
ordering
We already have a virtual tour. Is a model still worth it?
They do different work. The tour takes one buyer through the rooms of one unit. The model shows the whole building, its site and its neighbours to everyone at the table at once, and it stays on display for the whole sales period. Most sales suites use both: the screen for the interior, the model for the whole.
What does a model show that a rendering does not?
Every side at once, at one true scale. A rendering is one view, with the lens, the light and the camera height chosen by the designer. At the model the viewer chooses the angle and the distance, by walking around it.
How long does it take?
One week to prepare the drawings, about four weeks of building and about a week of door-to-door courier shipping, when the drawings are complete and do not change. The When to order planner works back from your launch date.
Can the model travel to events abroad?
Yes. A model can be built at a compact travel size and packed in its own crate, to go wherever the sales team goes.
Does the model come with images for the website and brochure?
Yes. Every model ordered includes five free renderings, made from photographs of the finished model. More can be arranged on request.
What does a model cost?
Each model is quoted per project, from the drawings, the scale and the surroundings it has to show. Send what you have and we reply within one working day with questions and a price.
The screen shows the rooms. The model shows the place.
